We were born out of a wish to help connect the different players in the local tech scene. We provide legal and structural support to the tech communities that need it.

01 Who we are

Who we are

Cascarilla Tech is a non-profit association set up in March 2026 in A Coruña, under article 22 of the Spanish Constitution and Organic Law 1/2002 on the right of association. During these months we've been working through the various bureaucratic steps to set the association's starting point at 1 September 2026.

We exist to act as a connecting thread across the different members of the tech ecosystem. We offer communities that need it legal and structural support. We offer companies an ecosystem and the chance to organise joint events.

We work with a horizontal structure and keep our activities open and free of charge wherever possible. We do not sell data, we do not generate profit, and we aim to publish everything we produce under open licences.

Promote the use of technology in every area of society.
Train and educate the public in technology-related matters.
Work with other organisations and technology communities that share our aims.
Encourage the use of the Galician language in technology.

Coruña JUG

Coruña JUG is the technical community built around Java and the JVM (Java, Groovy, Scala, Kotlin) that started in A Coruña. It runs talks and meetups on a regular basis and has previous experience working with sponsors.

It is the founding community driving the activity under the Cascarilla Tech umbrella.

02 Context

Why we exist

Cascarilla Tech was set up to solve two specific problems in the Galician technology scene.

The problem

Communities with real activity and no legal structure

In A Coruña there are active tech communities generating real activity — talks, workshops, meetups — but without their own legal or administrative capacity to invoice, sign agreements, or receive sponsorships. Setting up an association brings a set of requirements and red tape that most can't take on.

Our response

Cascarilla Tech provides that structure: the communities carry on with their work and we handle the formal side.

The problem

Companies that want to organise an event outside their own brand

Some companies want to run an event of their own, of whatever kind, without tying it to their day-to-day business or to their own brand.

Our response

Cascarilla Tech can act as the host structure and provide organisational cover for that initiative.

What comes next

These are the activities we currently have on the table for the coming months.

None of them is settled. Dates, formats and venues are indicative and may change. This section describes intentions, not commitments.

Coruña JUG's talks

We keep organising Coruña JUG's monthly talk.

Status Dates and venue (Odeene, Cidade das TIC). We'll announce the date each month.

Expected turnout 25-40 people

A day with AI

A day bringing together the community, knowledge and companies from A Coruña, with a keynote, talks and space for networking. Organised together with Coruña JUG.

Status Date and venue tentative (Odeene, Cidade das TIC). Not settled.

Expected turnout 50-75 people

Technology openspace

A day in openspace format: the agenda is put together by the attendees themselves at the start of the day.

Status No date or venue set.

Expected turnout 50-75 people

Panel discussion on tech hiring

A discussion of the challenges of hiring technical profiles in Galicia.

Status No date, format or panellists set.

Expected turnout 50-75 people

To put the numbers in context: Coruña JUG's regular talks and meetups draw between 30 and 50 people. The 50-75 range is what we expect for the less frequent, bigger events.

04 For companies

Ways to collaborate

These are the ways you can support our activities. You can choose one or both.

Ongoing collaboration

If you're after an ongoing relationship with the association, we'll talk and work out together whichever form of collaboration suits you best.

One-off, event by event

If you'd rather decide case by case, we'll open a communication channel with you and let you know about each activity, so you can freely choose whether to take part.

We do not set fixed amounts or sponsorship tiers: each organisation contributes whatever it sees fit, and any contribution is welcome.

Type of collaboration	What we offer in return
Financial or in kind (money, venue, catering, materials — both are treated exactly the same)	Your logo as a collaborating organisation in the dossier and on the event website, a visible roll-up at the venue on the day, and a mention on social media and in the event communications.
Stand at the event	Physical space throughout the day to talk directly with the community: local developers and technical profiles.

The talks on the programme are given voluntarily by people who want to share what they know. They are not tied to any form of financial collaboration.

We are not going to promise you a major international networking event or thousands of attendees. What we are offering is a way into the very beginnings of a local technology community that is starting to organise itself and intends to grow, and to be there from day one as the people who made it possible. Without your collaboration, the table where we all come together will be left wobbling.
